London Airports:

So you want to fly to London. Which airport. There are five airport in and around London:

1. Heathrow
2. Gatwick
3. Stansted

4. London City
5. Luton

Heathrow Airport:

Heathrow
is the largest airport in UK and one of the busiest in the world. It has 5 terminals. 5th one added recently.

Travelling from Heathrow:

Heathrow Express:  
Heathrow Express trains run to and from London Paddington every 15 minutes The journey takes 15 minutes. There is plenty of baggage space.
Timing: 05:10 and 23:25 from Paddington; 05:07 and 23:42 from Heathrow.
Cost: One way  costs 16.50 and return costs 32.

Heathrow Connect:
Heathrow Connect goes to London Paddington linking Heathrow airport with local stations in west London. The service runs every 
30 minutes, and the journey takes 26 minutes. Heathrow Connect's stopping service to London Paddington links the airport with local stations in west London.
Cost: Maximum upto 6.90.

London Underground:
Heahrow airport is connected by Piccadilly Line trains. It is a cheaper option and takes one hour to reach Central London. However it should be known that there is no luggage space and during rush hours, it can be difficult to find even standing space. Service can be a bit variable give your self plenty of time, if going to Heathrow.

Buses:

Best option is:

National Express:

Buses have good space for luggage. Trip take approximately 70 to 80min depending on time of the day. Bus will take you to Victoria station. Service runs from 4 am to 11:20 pm. Website: http://www.nationalexpress.com.

Service can be found from coach station in front of Heathrow's Terminal 3 and 4. There is a ticket counter. But try to book before coming as I found when when they had no tickets during busy season. I was going to Glasgow. Then I had to get the train. Finding the train station was an experience.

Local Buses Network:

There is extensive bus service from Heathrow going to West London. The time table can be found at:

Next option is Taxis. This can be expensive. Another option is Car Hire.

 

Gatwick Airport:

Gatwick is a smaller airport. Services is the same except for no tourist information. There is two terminals: North and South.

Travelling from Gatwick:

Gatwick Express:

This service will take you to Victoria station in 30 mins. Service runs every 15 min from 5:50am to 00:35am. It will cost around 16.90.

Southern Train:

This service runs fro Gatwick to Victoria station via East Croyden and Clapham Junction. The service runs every 15 mins and takes 35 mins. Single trip will cost 10.90.

First Capital Connect:

This service connects Gatwick to London Bridge and St Pancras International. This service also runs every 15 min and takes arouund 40 mins. Single fare is 10.90.

Easy Bus:

Cheap and good option. Connect Gatwick to Fulham Broadway in around 80 mins. Cost is 2. (better to book early; online).

National Express:

There is one service per 45 mins and single fare cost around 7.30.

Next option is Taxis. This can be expensive. Another option is Car Hire.

 

Stansted Airport:

Stansted is a single terminal airport located northeast of London.

Travelling from Stansted:

Stansted Express:

Train service runs every 15 min from Stansted to Liverpool Street Station. It takes 45 min. Single fare is  18.

Easy Bus:

Cheap and good option. Connect Stansted to Central London every 20-30min. It also connects London Victoria in around 1 hour and 30mins.Cost is from 2. (better to book early; online).

National Express:

There is one service per 1 hour 10 mins and single fare cost around 7.30.

 Other options are car hire and taxi (cost:  100).

 

London City Airport:

 It is a small airport in East London. It has single runway.

Travelling from London City Airport:

Docklands Light Railway:

DLR runs fro the airport every 8 to 15 minutes and takes less than 7 minutes to Canning town or Woolwich Arsenal or 22 minutes to Bank.

Buses:

Buses 473 and 474 connect the airport to London. To plan a trip http://www.tfl.gov.uk/.

Luton:

Luton is another small airport located 35 miles north east of Central London.

Travelling from Luton:

First Capital Connect:

A shuttle service takes passengers from Luton to Luton Airway Parkway Station. If rail ticket is purchased then shuttle is free. First Capital Connect service takes around 25minutes to St. Pancras international station.
